Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh

Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh. In the second match of the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka easily defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets.

Sri Lanka easily achieved the target of 165 runs given by Bangladesh for the loss of 5 wickets in 39 overs in the second match of the Asia Cup played at Pali Kele.

Sudheera Samra Wickrama played a brilliant innings of 54 runs, Charat Asalanka also stood out with 62 runs.

Pathan Nishanka was dismissed for 14 runs, Karuna Ratne was bowled by Tasin Ahmad for one run, Kaushal Mendes was hit by Shakibul Hasan for 5 runs.


For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets, Tasin Ahmed, Sharaful Islam and one each.

Earlier, Bangladesh were bowled out for 164 runs in 42.4 overs and had given Sri Lanka a target of 165 runs to win.

On behalf of Bangladesh, Najamul Hasan Shinto played an innings of 89 runs, Tawheed Haridwe scored 20 runs and Mohammad Naeem returned to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed for 13 runs while captain Shakib Al Hasan lost his wicket for 5 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Mathisha Pathirana took 4 wickets, Mahesh Thekshana dismissed two players.

Speaking on the occasion of the toss, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said that the Sri Lankan team is strong, we will have to play good cricket, we will try to set a good score.

On the other hand, Sri Lankan captain Dasan Shanaka said that if we had won the toss, we would have batted first.

It should be remembered that the defending champion Sri Lankan team is worried about the injuries of the players. Dushmanatha Chimera, Lahiru Kumara, Vinandu Hasaranga and Madushanka are out of the squad due to injuries.

So far 51 ODIs have been played between the two teams, out of which Sri Lanka have won 40 matches while Bangladesh have won 9 matches while two matches have been drawn.

Sri Lanka is currently ranked eighth in the ICC ODI Team Rankings, while Bangladesh is ranked seventh in the rankings.
