Japan defeated Pakistan to win the Azlan Shah Hockey Cup

Japan defeated Pakistan to win the Azlan Shah Hockey Cup for the first time. Japan defeated Pakistan in the final of the 30th Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament.

The final match played in the city of Ipoh, Malaysia was tied 2-2 in the fourth quarter, after which it was decided on a penalty shoot-out.

Japan won the penalty shootout 1-4 to win the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament title for the first time. The Japanese team was playing the Azlan Shah Cup final for the first time.

Japan took a one-nil lead against Pakistan in the first quarter while both teams failed to score a goal in the second quarter.

Pakistan took a 1-2 lead in the third quarter. Pakistan’s Ahmed Ejaz scored in the 34th minute and Abdul Rehman in the 37th minute.

Japan tied the match 2-2 in the fourth quarter. Japan’s second goal was scored by Kazumasama in the 47th minute.

In the fourth quarter, Pakistan had several opportunities to take the lead but the national team could not take advantage of it.

It should be noted that a goal must be scored within 8 seconds in the penalty shootout. Pakistan missed 2 out of 5 penalty shootouts.

Pakistan’s only goal was scored by Imad Butt in the penalty shootout, Rana Waheed Ashraf and Arshad Liaquat could not score on behalf of Pakistan.

The Man of the Match award of the final went to Pakistan’s Rana Waheed Ashraf. Pakistan hockey team was declared the silver medalist of the event.

It should be remembered that Pakistan won the bronze medal in the event. Pakistan last played in the final of the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament in 2011. Pakistan last won the tournament in 2003.

Before the final, the Pakistan team was unbeaten in the event, Pakistan won 3 matches and drew two matches.
