After defeating Afghanistan, Pakistan reached the semi-finals. In the U-19 Asia Cup, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 83 runs in the last group match and qualified for the semi-finals, winning the event for the third time in a row.

In the ongoing ACC U-19 Cricket Asia Cup in Dubai on Tuesday, Afghanistan won the toss against Pakistan and decided to bowl first and invited the Pakistani team to bat.

Batting first, the Pakistani team scored 303 runs while the entire team returned to the pavilion in 48 overs. Openers Shamail Hussain and Shahzeb Khan were the top scorers with 75 and 79 runs respectively, besides Riyazullah played an innings of 73 runs.

Azan Owais 20, Tayyab Arif 6, Arafat Minhas 4, Saad Baig and Aamir Hasan 8, Khabib Khalil 3, and Ubaid Shah got out with one run.

Mohammad Zeeshan returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs.

Chasing the target of 304 runs, Afghanistan’s batsmen could not hold their own against the Pakistani bowlers, and the entire Afghan team was bowled out for 220 runs in the 49th over.

On behalf of Afghanistan, Numan Shah was outstanding by scoring 54 runs while Wafiullah and Faridoon played an inning of 32 and 32 runs respectively.

On behalf of Pakistan, Obaid Shah and Tayyab Arif took 3 and 3 wickets, while Amir Hussain and Shamail took 2 wickets each.

 

It should be noted that earlier in the event, Pakistan defeated Nepal and India.

Pakistan remained unbeaten in Group A with 3 consecutive wins to retain the top position and qualified for the semi-finals.

Apart from Pakistan in Group A, India has also reached the semi-finals of the U-19 Asia Cup.
